Ben Tameifuna Fantasy Rugby Analysis

Should I put Ben Tameifuna in my Fantasy Rugby team? Well, only if you are really strapped for cash. Unless your prop is Sona Taumalolo, then you are unlikely to see many points out of any prop.

The great thing about Ben Tameifuna is that he is really cheap - well less than $500,000 on TestRugby. So if you need someone to fill in space on your team, then $130kg+ Tameifuna is your man.

Since his debut in round two, Ben Tameifuna has never scored 200 points or more. He's an invaluable member of the Chiefs team, but his contribution does not translate into Fantasy Rugby points.

Beauden Barrett a Fantasy Rugby Gold Mine

The only thing stopping Beauden Barrett being a Fantasy Rugby phenomenon is the fact that he is too cheap! The halves is a position Fantasy Rugby players traditionally like to spend a lot of money, so if a player is too cheap they tend to steer clear. However, it would be foolish to overlook Beauden Barrett (check out his full profile here). He kicks goals, makes breaks and assists in tries. That's everything you want in your halves. There are some question marks on his defence, but he doesn't miss enough tackles to negate his upside. Even before the season started Barrett shaped as a Fantasy Rugby bargain. He clearly had first tilt at first five and there weren't many players who would take over from him - this means game time. What has surprised is the form of the Hurricanes, which has allowed Barrett to score more points than expected. One thing is for sure, Beauden Barrett will be a key Fantasy Rugby player for years to come, but he'll never be as cheap as he is now!

Brodie Retallick: Fantasy Rugby Bargain

Brodie Retallick has been one of the biggest Fantasy Rugby bargains in the 2012 Super Rugby competition. For a start, he is a tight forward, so you don't want to be spending a lot of money on him. Conveniently, he is also very cheap - only about $620,000 at TestRugby.com. He isn't going to feature as your highest point scorer very often, if ever - but for that price you don't need him to. As a key lineout option and defensive workhorse, he'll quitely earn you 200 points a week. That's plenty of bang for you buck in a position you shouldn't expect many points from.

Retallick plays for the Chiefs and was recently called into the All Blacks squad for the first time. Learn more about Brodie Retallick at the RugbyFix Player profile, here
